Our Story

We are proud to say that we are the oldest, and longest standing bookstore here in Baldur’s Gate. Founded in the year 284 DR, We began as a humble repository for tomes and scrolls in the heart of the city’s bustling trade district. Where travelers and sailors would come to have their adventures recorded, and their plundered knowledge secured and made available to the citizens of our fair city. Our origins can be traced back to the reclusive sage Aurelius Caelum, who sought to create a sanctuary for knowledge seekers amidst the chaotic tapestry of Baldur’s Gate. Aurelius’ vision was to provide a haven where scholars, mages, and adventurers could peruse ancient texts, exchange ideas, and delve into the mysteries of the multiverse.

Over the centuries, Baldur’s Gate Books evolved from a modest storefront into a sprawling complex, expanding both vertically and horizontally. Its architecture is a testament to the diverse architectural styles that have influenced Baldur’s Gate throughout the ages. Our reputation for rare and obscure texts attracts scholars and collectors from across the Sword Coast, marking us as a focal point for intellectual pursuits in the region. Today, Baldur’s Gate Books stands as an enduring symbol of our city’s rich history and its unwavering commitment to the pursuit of knowledge.
